Upsurge = A rapid or sudden rise

 

Asterial Dance is a young professional company taking a two-fold approach on its journey. Not only do we believe in creating and producing our own work, but we strive to provide opportunities for other emerging choreographers to rise up in the field! 

 

Megan Lynn, Artistic Director of Asterial Dance, is partnering with Nick Neagle, Artistic Director of NSquared Dance to curate and produce the SECOND Upsurge Choreography Platform!  We are seeking 3 emerging and established choreographers who want to grow and impact the world through dance! 

 

The Upsurge Choreography Platform is an amazing opportunity in which Megan and Nick will take care of all of the technical and administrative work of producing, so that the choreographers can throw their energy into creating the best possible work!  Its like having a mini-season without all the grunt work!

 

 Asterial Dance will take care of the venue, insurance, lighting designer, photographer, videographer, staffing, ticketing services, programs, flyers, and additional marketing and promotions. 

 

3 Choreographers will be given up to 40 minutes of stage time to present one or more works. Performances take place at the intimate, proscenium-style Hudson Guild Theatre in Chelsea. In addition, each choreographer will receive 2 hours of rehearsal space, a 2-hour tech/dress with lighting designer, photography, and videography of the performance. 

 

Choreographers get 20% compensation of ticket sales.
