Asterial Dance was founded in 2012 under the direction of Artistic Director, Megan Lynn. The company originated with six dancers that Lynn personally gathered. They premiered multiple works in the 2012-2013 season at festivals catered to emerging artists. The company had its first breakout performance at The Ailey CitiGroup Theater in April, 2013. This performance sparked them to begin producing shows of their own.

 

In the 2013-2014 season, they continued to perform at various festivals in NYC. Lynn also began producing the company's own performance season in Phildelphia, Baltimore, and New York. In Spring 2014, she founded The Biomorphic Dance Festival, which is now entering its third iteration, as a performing opportunity for emerging artists.

 

The company's 2014-2015 season began with another production in Philadelphia. In the fall of 2014, Lynn began an outreach program for Asterial Dance with the Salvation Army, Times Square. She provides programing for the children in exchange for rehearsal space for her company. This Spring, Lynn is producing another emerging artist opportunity, the Upsurge Choreography Platform, for establishing companies to begin presenting their own productions. 

 

Lynn and Asterial Dance have created 12 contemporary dance works varying in length from twelve to thirty minutes. They have also taught master classes and intensives in NY, MA, and MD.
